Safeguarding co
Safeguarding Co is an organisation dedicated to raising awareness of safeguarding, the UK Prevent strategy, and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) within the apprenticeship industry. We aim to provide businesses with the tools to create a secure environment where every apprentice can thrive and reach their full potential.
SAFEGUARDING IN APPRENTICESHIPS
Safeguarding in apprenticeships refers to the measures and practices put in place to protect apprentices from harm, abuse, and neglect while promoting their welfare and well-being.
By implementing safeguarding measures, we can work to create a safe, supportive environment for apprentices to learn.
The National Prevent Strategy is part of the Government’s counter terrorism strategy. It addresses all forms of terrorism and is designed to tackle the problem at its roots, preventing people from supporting or becoming involved in terrorism.
Prevent is not about preventing apprentices from having religious or political views and concerns, but it is about supporting them to use those concerns or act on them in a non-extremist way.

EQUALITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion currently refers to a multitude of terms to include gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, education, and national origin.
The aim for EDI initiatives is to ensure all individuals are respected by their unique needs, perspectives and potential.
Under legislation, all parties involved in an apprenticeship must take reasonable action to minimise risks to apprentices, placing safeguarding concerns at the heart of their training provision.
WHY IS SAFEGUARDING IMPORTANT?
Who is responsible for safeguarding?
All parties involved in an apprenticeship have to take reasonable action to minimise risks to apprentices. Safeguarding applies in all apprenticeship scenarios, whether that’s face-to-face, online, with the training provider or in the workplace.
